Why I built Poker Sesh

Rodrigo Peixoto
Builder of Poker Sesh · host of a weekly home game

I host a weekly $25 home cash game. For years the poker was the easy part — the mess was everything after the last hand. Someone rebought twice and only remembered once. The chip counts never quite matched the cash on the table. Half the settle-up happened on Tuesday over a pile of Venmo requests, and somebody always ended up eating the difference to keep the peace.

I tried the spreadsheet. I tried the notes app. Neither survives a table of eight people who've been playing for five hours. So I built the thing I actually wanted: everyone's buy-ins logged as they happen, on everyone's phone, so that when the game ends the settle-up is already done and there's nothing left to argue about.

Poker Sesh is a one-person project. That's why hosting costs $9.99 a month instead of being free with ads in the middle of your game night — the subscription is what keeps the servers on and the push notifications working. Playing is free, and it will stay free.

If something is broken, or your game needs something the app doesn't do yet, email me at pokersesh@gmail.com. It reaches me directly, and feature requests from real home games are what actually decides what gets built next.

Try it on your next game night

Players are free forever. Hosts get 14 days before anything is charged.
